Custom Home Builders & Remodelers

Hey, Brian Freeman here with BuildIt Media. Today we’re gonna talk to a local business segment, the custom home builders and home remodeling contractors, something I’m very familiar with, being that I’ve been in the construction business for 20 years, so building custom homes and doing whole house remodels.

Build a Lead Magnet for Your Website 

So, one thing that is so important for you to do, and this is when you’re getting a website done, you gotta get a lead magnet on your site. You gotta get something you can give away to the customer. Because the buy cycle is so long with the remodeling projects, especially the larger ones that we’re accustomed to with whole house remodels and custom homes, you sometimes don’t talk those people that are entering into the first parts of that buying cycle six months, a year, even two years prior to actually starting the project so, having the trust with that client and the know and the like is so important and you can build that over time and it really helps in the actual sales process when you finally go to get that building agreement with them.

Answer, “What Does it Cost to do This Project?” 

So, what we like to do is if we can build a lead magnet around pricing and talk about pricing, that’s typically the first thing these people in their minds are going, “what does it cost to do this project?” When they start searching online they’re gonna be going after that first and if we can answer those questions, they’re gonna find us online. When they find us online, that lead magnet is available for them. It gives them value, they exchange their contact information for that. And then they enter into our funnel and we continue to market to them through that long buy cycle until they’re actually ready to make a decision and move forward.

Building Your Lead Magnet to Cover Pricing 

So, the lead magnet on pricing, you want to build this around, so you’re a custom home builder, you want to address permits and fees, site costs, selecting the land, the actual average price per square foot. You want to give examples of actual projects linked back to your website of the pictures of that project you finished with actual real prices of what it costs to build. You wanna address how you actually come up with the pricing for that. You also wanna go and talk about next steps on how you move forward after the actual original design process is done.

Creating Your Video Series 

So, once you have built out this cost guide, which is essentially an ebook, then you’ll segment that out into different segments, and one them, you’ll do a video around each one of these segments. So, say it’s seven videos or seven segments, you have seven videos. So, the first one’s on site costs, selecting land is your second one, you’ve got permits and fees, you’ve got plans and design, and you go through all these and you do a video on them. And then on your site, the landing page, you’re giving away not only this ebook, you’re giving away the actual cost to build these homes. You can even show them floor plans. You’re linking back to the website that has all the pictures, and you’re giving them probably over an hour of your time, going into more detail on each segment of that process. They see your face and they become so familiar with you. So it’s an excellent way to become very— just liked and trusted by that customer before they even call you.

Create an Email Series for Your Lead Magnet

And once they enter in and begin with that lead magnet, you create that email series based off the video. So, once they download the lead magnet, so the first email that goes to them is gonna have the ebook in it. It’s gonna have all the information we talked about, the plans and design, the permits and fees, selecting land, actual build costs. It’s gonna have links back to the website to see the pictures of the projects, actual prices, it’s gonna have all that in it. They’re getting it in the first email. Additionally, in that first email is your first video where you’ve segmented out and talked about each segment of that ebook that you wrote for the cost guide. And that’s gonna happen on day one. Day two, it’s gonna happen again. They’re gonna get the second video and day three and day four and day five. It may go seven days where they get seven videos of you actually talking to them and they’re getting to know, like and trust you right then and there.

Lead Nurture Campaign 

It’s just huge as far as what it does for the sales process. It pre-qualifies them, they like your company, it takes just so many questions away during the sales process, and you just don’t have to sell them on the fact that they like you or they trust you when they show up. And once that’s done, they actually go into your nurture campaign. So that seven-day series hits them. It goes out, it does what it needs to do. Then after that, your team’s creating content out in the field, you’re creating content in the office, you’re making these videos around just questions that they have and showing the product that you’re actually building out in the field. And every week they see you. So, if this is a six month process, a year process, or two year process, during that whole time, you’re top of mind. You’re the guy that’s solving their problems, answering their questions, and you’re gonna be the guy that they come to when they’re actually ready to make the purchase and actually do the build.

How a Lead Magnet Can Help Your Business 

So, it is an absolutely unreal, effective way to create that know, like and trust, to capture emails, put them into your funnel, and then continue to market to them until they’re ready to actually buy. So, I highly recommend it. If you’re a custom home builder, home remodeling contractor, if you’re any type of local business that has a service that you offer for your customers, you can do this, you can apply it, and it’s so, so effective. Building Location Pages

Hey, Brian Freeman with BuildIt Media. Hey today I wanted to talk to you about how you can use very specific location pages that you build on your website and build in content around those that will just drive a ton of traffic to you if you’re like a local business, say like a realtor or a custom home builder. And you work in targeted cities or targeted neighborhoods that you’re wanting to build in or you’re wanting to sell people homes in.

What Are Your Customers Looking For?

So what you gotta do, the first thing is you need to find out what your customers are looking for. What’s that client looking for at the very very beginning of the buy cycle? So what do they need? You’re gonna look at, say, let’s say it’s a realtor and they’re looking for, the schools are a big deal. So they’re starting right at the very beginning. They’re going “What’s an area with good schools? “I wanna make sure we have good schools for my kids.” So you’re gonna build some video content around that school very specific to that city making sure you’re targeted, you’re using that city’s name in that video when you’re targeting that, talking about all the schools, it’s very specific to that area.

Build a Lead Magnet for Your Business

Now once you do that, you’re gonna actually build a lead magnet around that, so something you can give away on that location page. So it’s gonna be the best schools, why is this area the best school district that you can move to? And once you do that those people that are actually looking for that very specific thing about the school, before they’ve actually contacted a realtor, at the very beginning of the buy cycle, they’re gonna find you online, then they’re gonna hit that site, and because you have, or hit your web page, and then they’re gonna see that lead magnet, it’s very very targeted. And they’ll download that. Then once they download that, you’re able to start that nurture process as far as connecting with them and building know, like, and trust and continued content that you give them. So that is so so effective.

How to Build Location Page

You can actually take a template each page so you have a template and then maybe have 10 cities that you focus on or maybe three cities, whatever it may be. Duplicate that page, but take the video content that’s, make that specifically for that page, and then you transcribe that as well so the text is on the page so you get that, it helps with the SEO, and then break that up with different headers that allow you to get the H1, H2, H3, H4 tags so it’s properly done to optimize it.

Building Your Client Leads

 So I hope that helps. This is so so effective and take a number of different questions that they might have at the beginning of the buy cycle, not just one thing, and target a bunch of those frequently asked questions at the very front, and this will drive a ton of traffic to your site and allow you to just get a ton of leads in the pipeline. Using Video to Increase Sales

Hey Brian Freeman with BuildIt Media. Hey, I wanted to talk to you about how video can help your business grow. How you can build the know like and trust with your customers just by shooting some videos. So, if you can get in the habit of every week just going and shooting a short video, it could be a minute long, it could be three minutes, five minutes. Something short. Could be way longer than that, but shooting a video consistently once a week, where you’re talking about how you can help your customers, how you can add value to them, showing them and teaching them about the product or service that you offer. It’s gonna allow you in their eyes to build a lot of trust. They’re gonna know who you are, they see your face, they’re familiar with you, they trust you. So it takes a lot of that front end work that you have to do when you normally are meeting a customer and shortens that length of time that you, until you actually do business with them.

Uploading Video & SEO

So, what you can do, if you have a WordPress website or another type of website, WordPress is what we specialize in. But if we have a WordPress website, we’ll take this video. The first thing we do is we get this video shot. We’re gonna go to our YouTube channel, we’re gonna upload this to YouTube. We are then gonna take and we’re gonna go to Rev.com, R-E-V.com and we’re gonna take this video, put it up to, or give it to Rev. Rev is gonna send it back with a transcription, text transcription of the video that we did. And we’re also gonna get a time to text file from Rev that we’re gonna upload into YouTube, which will allow the captions to show on YouTube. And then we’ll take the actual transcription text and paste that into the description along with some links. That gives us good SEO. It also allows the time text to show up for people to actually see that, that cannot actually hear what’s going on with the video so they can actually read the text while the video is playing.

Create a Blog Post 

Once that’s done, we take that, we take that text we take that video, we come back over to our WordPress website, to our blog. We’re gonna go ahead and create a new blog post and we’re gonna plug that video in on that page. And then we’re gonna take that text, that transcription that we got from Rev, and we’re gonna put that into the body of the blog post. We’re gonna break it up into bite sizes so people can scan through it and put headings in there, and optimize it for SEO with our h1 h2 h3 tags. And this thing is gonna bring a lot of value for people that are searching for your content, searching for something you offer. They’re gonna be able to find you. And you got a video on there and you also got the text and you’re gonna show up on the first page of Google, if you do it, right. Really powerful, very powerful thing you can do for your company, is to just get consistent with videos. 

Creating Videos for Your Company

Do some yourself, you’re CEO of the company, do them yourself as well. Do them as often as you can. If you can get them once a week, it’s so awesome. But don’t forget about your team members. So you got, you may have a lot of employees out there that are working out in the field, actually interacting with people, have them make it part of their day and their job description to, “Hey, “get some content for our company, bring it back in, “and we’re gonna use it. “We’re gonna put that out there onto our channel.” And you can really gain some momentum on getting a ton of videos out there and starting to really get a foot in your marketplace. So, okay, well that’s, that’s how videos can help you get your business. That know like and trust and need and really dominate your marketplace. So, hope that helps. Why You Need to Boost Your Facebook Posts

Hey, Brian Freeman with Bill Media, and today I wanted to go over Facebook with you. If you use Facebook at all for putting posts out on a weekly basis or daily basis, wherever it may be, make sure that you are boosting those posts. What’s happened is the organic reach on Facebook has basically gone to almost nothing, so 7% or less. If you say you have a thousand people that already like your page, when you put a post out, 7% or less of those people are actually seeing the posts that you put out. But if you put a little bit of money behind that and you boost that post, maybe even a couple dollars a day, you’re going to see a way bigger reach as far as any engagement on that post is going to be much higher, which will bring you more business.

That’s a super, super simple thing that you can do to make sure that the people that actually like your page are seeing what you’re putting out there and you have the option, too, to target the people that like your page when you do boost the post, and you can also target them plus their friends, so that network of people that are connected to you will actually be seeing what your business is doing.

Installing a Facebook Pixel on Your Website

Hey, Brian Freeman with BuildIt Media. I wanted to talk to you today about adding a Facebook pixel to the backend of your website so you can actually retarget your customers that are coming to your website on Facebook. So one thing you could do is, if you have a WordPress website, install the official Facebook plugin, and once you’ve done that, go to your Facebook account, your page, your business page, and get into your ads manager, go to the events section, then get the pixel ID out of there. Take that pixel ID, go back onto the backend of your WordPress website and plug that in to that official Facebook pixel plugin.

Make sure the thing’s activated, and once that’s done, what will happen is anybody that’s coming to your website, it’s going to track them and then it’ll allow you to retarget them. If they’re on Facebook, you’ll be able to retarget them with your ads, your Facebook ads and get back in front of them again and try to build that know, like, and trust with your customer, and then over time, make an offer to them and hopefully either get them into your email database so you can continue marketing to them and continue to build that trust or actually make a sale. So that’s a excellent way to utilize the retargeting on Facebook, and you do that by installing that Facebook pixel. So get that done and hopefully that’ll help you grow your business. All right. Adding A Value Proposition to Your Website

Hey, Brian Freeman with BuildIt Media. Hey, today I wanted to talk to you about adding a value proposition to the homepage of your website. 

So last week we actually talked about, on the homepage, adding the problems that your customer will have. What will life for your customer be like if they don’t use your services? So and we use the example of an auto detailing company. And that would be so they’re gonna have their paint’s gonna peel, their seats are gonna crack on the interior, they’re gonna get rust on their vehicle though. And their overall investment in their vehicle is not gonna, it’s not gonna hold up. Because the vehicle is actually gonna depreciate more because it’s not taken care of.  So that was our example of what happens if the customer does not use our services. 

But now on the homepage right below that, we got to give them an example of what it’s gonna look like when they do do business with us. So using that same example of the auto detailing company, we’re gonna go ahead and tell them, said that our detailer’s gonna show up on time. It’s gonna be hassle free. All you gotta do is leave the keys for us. We’ll take care of it, it’s gonna be simple. We’re gonna have, we’re gonna take care of your paint, your paint’s gonna look pristine, it’s gonna last longer. The interior of your car that is gonna last longer. You’re gonna have, the seats aren’t gonna crack, the leather won’t crack. You’re not gonna have rust on the outside your vehicle. And the overall longevity of your investment in the vehicle is gonna last longer because it’s well taken care of. So we’re gonna take all those items, the value proposition what, what the positives are when they do business with our company. And we’re gonna bullet point those and put those on our homepage of our website. So that’s gonna be super important to paint that picture for our ideal client on what they can expect when they do business with us. 

So get that on your website, it’s super, super important. And it was great talking to you today. Telling Your Customer What's at Stake

Hey, Brian Freeman with BuildIt Media. Hey, today I wanna talk to you about something that is absolutely super, super important that you get on the homepage of your website. That’s gonna be actually talking to your potential customer, your ideal customer, that if they do not do business with you, what does their life look like? What kind of negative things will they encounter if they don’t use your services? 

So let’s say that you are an auto detailing business and you’re doing exterior and interior auto detailing. So on our homepage, we’re gonna bullet point this and we’re gonna say, “If you don’t take care of your car, “if you don’t get an auto detail done on your car, “on the exterior and interior of your car “every three to six months, “your paint’s gonna go bad on your car. “Your leather seats are gonna crack “on the inside of your vehicle, “you’re gonna get rust on the outside of your vehicle. “All these things are gonna depreciate your vehicle “which is gonna hurt your investment into that vehicle, “and the lifetime of the vehicle is gonna be less.” So we’re gonna take all those items and we’re gonna break them down and bullet point them on our website, and we’re gonna make sure that that customer is able to really feel what it is if they neglect using the services that your company offers. 

So it’s an excellent thing to have on the homepage, keep it simple, and then we’re gonna go into the next video and we’ll actually talk about what kind of value they will get and the problems and how life will look, how the problems will go away and how life will look if they do use their services.
